Bodies of seven Army personnel brought to
Capital
NEW DELHI: The mortal remains of
the seven Army personnel who died while fighting
Pakistani infiltrators in Kargil sector, were brought
here on Thursday.
Two bodies of sepoy Dinesh Bhai
Mohan Bhai, (12th battalion Mahar Regiment), resident of
Kheda in Gujarat, and sepoy Goswamy Harenderagiri (Mahar
Regiment), of Junagarh, Gujarat, were received at the
cargo complex of Palam airport. The bodies will be flown
to Ahmedabad to be handed over to their kin.
On arrival, wreaths were placed on
the bodies on behalf of the Gujarat government. The state
government has announced ex-gratia payment of Rs five
lakh to the families of the martyrs from Gujarat besides
construction of memorial.
The other five bodies were those of
Nk S N Malik (Mahar), of Orissa, sepoy Amrish Pal Bangi
(Mahar), of Muzaffarnagar, UP, L/Nk Satpal Singh (2
Rajputana Rifles), resident of Garh Mukteshwar, rifleman
Satbir Singh (2 Rajputana Rifles) of Churu, Rajasthan,
and rifleman Jagmal Singh (2 Rajputana Rifles), resident
of Sikar, Rajasthan. These were received at 218 Medium
Regiment near the Army Parade Ground. (UNI)
